Application for Admission

Application Instructions

Fill out the online application for admission. When you are finished, click the SUBMIT button on the left column of any application screen. Print and sign the application agreement statement that appears after you submit the application and return it with the nonrefundable $40 application fee to Lewis University at the address on the right.

Students Entering as Freshmen

• Applicants must have graduated from an approved high school with a combination of grade point average (GPA), class rank, and ACT or SAT score which indicates a strong likelihood of success in university studies.
• Official high school transcripts and ACT or SAT scores should be forwarded to the Office of Admission. GED students must submit a copy of their diploma. Veterans must submit a DD214.

Admission Eligibility Requirements

• Minimum composite score of 18 ACT or 870 SAT
• Minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 grading scale
• Minimum 18 high school units of college preparatory coursework
• Minimum 3 units of English coursework

Transfer Students

• A transfer student applicant (traditional programs) is defined as a degree-seeking student who has earned a minimum of 12 semester (18 quarter) hours of transferable credit at a regionally accredited postsecondary institution.
• Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended must be sent to the Office of Admission. An evaluation of courses and hours still needed will be forwarded by the Office of Admission.
• Transfer students will be required to submit high school transcripts if they choose to enroll in the university.
• Transfer student applicants need to have earned a minimum 2.0 cumulative transfer grade point average (higher for some majors) based upon all transferable courses to be considered for admission. The Office of Admission will fully review a student's file to determine the likelihood of success at Lewis University. Transfer students must be in good standing at the most recently attended institution.

Adults Entering as First Year Students

• An adult first year student is defined as an individual who is at least 24 years of age with no previous college experience.
• Official high school transcripts should be forwarded to the Office of Admission. GED students must submit a copy of their diploma. Veterans must submit a DD214.

Entering Students-at-Large or Nondegree Seeking Students

• Applicants seeking to complete coursework at Lewis University for transfer back to another institution are considered Students-At-Large.
• An official transcript from the last college/university attended must be sent to the Office of Admission.

Financial Aid

• Students who have been accepted for admission to Lewis University are eligible to be considered for financial aid. Lewis requires that students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to apply for need-based financial aid/grants, loans, and work programs available through federal, state, and institutional resources.
• Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This form can be completed at www.fafsa.ed.gov or a hard copy may be found in the Office of Financial Aid or in the high school guidance offices.
• In order for Lewis University to receive your financial aid information from the government, you must list Lewis University in the school code section. The school code is 001707.

To complete this online application, type your answers in the corresponding fields or select your answers from the popup lists (where applicable).

After you complete a screen, click the NEXT button at the bottom or on one of the sections listed on the left column to move to a different screen. Before you are allowed to jump screens, we will inspect your data on the current screen for errors or inconsistencies. If errors or omissions are found, you will be returned to the screen to correct your answer(s). Otherwise, your data will be saved and you will proceed to the requested screen. We also allow you to skip to another screen without your new data being saved. Be aware that if you use the Skip & Jump function on the left column, data on the current screen will not be saved and will have to be reentered prior to submittal.
