Once you click "begin application" below, you will be sent to the "What's Next Illinois" website where you can create a user account and submit your online application.

Adult Transfer Admission/Adult Second Degree Admission

Adult transfer admission is for students who will be 24 years old in the year in which they enroll at the college, who have previously completed college and university work at another school(s), and who wish to have consideration for transfer credit toward the completion of a bachelor's degree at Elmhurst.

The review of applications for fall term admission begins on October 1 and continues through July 15. Applications for spring term admission are reviewed between October 1 and January 15.

Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis during the review period. Applicants are notified of their admission status within three weeks of all requested credentials being received and reviewed. Students submitting applications within 30 days of the beginning of a term may be granted provisional admission pending the completion of their admission file and transfer credit evaluation.

Application procedure:

  • Submit a completed application for admission.
  • Request official, sealed transcripts from each college or university attended be forwarded to The School for Advanced Learning.
  • Students under 26 years of age, must submit official, sealed high school transcripts. NOTE: All first-degree nursing majors must submit an official high school transcript.

All students can strengthen their application for admission by submitting a goals statement and resume with their application agreement statement. Students whose academic records show promise, but are not as strong as required for admission consideration, will be asked to submit a goals statement and resume for review by the admission committee before an admission decision is made.

Adult Freshman Admission

Adult freshman admission is for students who will be 24 years old in the year in which they enroll at the college, who have not completed any college or university work, and who wish to complete a bachelor's degree at Elmhurst.

Teacher Certification

Teacher certification applicants who have earned a bachelor's degree are considered nondegree seeking, but must submit this online application and official transcripts from each college/university attended for advising and certification purposes.

International Students

International students must submit an evaluation, in English, of previous international coursework, degrees earned, and a score on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) in addition to following the appropriate procedures outlined above.

Before you are allowed to jump screens, we will inspect your data on the current screen for errors or inconsistencies. If errors or omissions are found, you will be returned to the screen to correct your answer(s). Otherwise, your data will be saved and you will proceed to the requested screen. We also allow you to skip to another screen without your new data being saved. Be aware that if you use the Skip & Jump function on the left column, data on the current screen will not be saved and will have to be reentered prior to submittal.
